I wanted to share the following advertisement that I saw while in New York!
The image above comes from a film that Andy Warhol appeared in:
The film was directed by Jorgen Leth. What do you think is the concept behind this short clip? What is the symbolism of him eating a burger instead of something fancy like a steak?
I wanted to share some artworks made by Mr. Gopie's students that were inspired by Pop Art. Can you guess the specific artist each work was inspired by? Happy first day of Spring! Check out the link below to view artworks inspired by flowers.
Spring has Sprung: Artwork Inspired by Flowers Happy new year!
As I mentioned in class, there will be a sketchbook check on January 14-15 (Monday/Tuesday). I will be checking for the following:
Good morning everyone,
As I mentioned in class, there will be a sketchbook check this week on THURSDAY 11/15 and FRIDAY 11/16. I will be checking for the Artist Statements for the one point perspective assignment (or the Mask project if you are in 3D art). I will also be checking for the Art Criticism homework assignment. If you forget your sketchbook or forget to leave it with me, you will receive zeros for those assignments. Hello everyone,
There will be a quiz next week on the elements of art! It will take place on Wednesday 10/3 and Thursday 10/4. It will be a DIGITAL quiz that you must respond to on your iPads. How should you prepare?
Hello everyone, please don't forget your paintbrushes next class!!
9/18 for Period 2 9/20 for Period 3 We will be working with watercolor paints to create artwork for International Dot Day. I have some brushes for those who don't bring them, but I do not have enough for the entire class. Remember that this was part of your mandatory supplies. Brushes can be found at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels in value packs. PERIOD 2 (2D STUDENTS):
There will be time on FRIDAY 9/14 to finish up your abstract Kandinsky-inspired drawings as well as your artist statements. If you wish, you may work on your artist statement before then, but it is not due until TUESDAY 9/18. The artist statement document is listed under the "Resources" tab. You may also click here. Hello everyone, I will be checking your sketchbook for your Bell Ringers on THURSDAY 9/6 and FRIDAY 9/7. I will not be grading them unless they are in the sketchbook. If you are missing any of the bell ringers, click here or go to Classwork-> Bell Ringers.
